Chicago indigenous Zayden Skipper produced his way south to develop into a fourth-era graduate of Alcorn Condition College, an HBCU in Mississippi. He journeyed to SCAD Atlanta to gain his master’s in trend design and style. Now on the environment phase as a Job Runway contestant, he’s established on building a worldwide trend brand name listed here in Atlanta.

Generational genius: I grew up viewing my grandmother, mother, and aunts make clothing for myself and my sister. I have often been deeply motivated by my South Aspect Chicago upbringing with a lot of powerful Black gals.
On becoming a minority, in the South, in trend: Studying in the South, I received an instruction on what it signifies to be a Black male in The us. As a designer, I am normally set in a box, as if the only point I can do is streetwear. I am flexible, even so. Fashion, for me, is an escape, a way to be a chameleon and a voice for the types that are not spoken for.
